Windscorpion ( Sun Spider, Child of the earth)
Eremobates pallipes

Appearance:
Male 5/8-1 inch, female 7/8-11/4 inches. Yellowish brown. Four large, pincer like mouth parts held forward and close together. Its jointed feelers are heavy, leg like, held like coarse antennae.
Habitat:
Very dry, warm regions.
Food:
Insects and small vertebrate animals, such as lizards.
Life Cycle:
Female digs out area in soil, then hides eggs there. Female stands guard until they hatch. Young are primarily nocturnal, venturing about in daylight only when they approach adult size. Males remain smaller than females and their legs are longer in proportion to body length.
General Information:
These solitary windscorpions are independent hunters from hatchling to adult stages. Only a specialist can distinguish the more than 100 species in this genus.
Windscorpion Management:
The first step in managing scorpions around dwellings is to remove all debris such as loose boards, rocks, stacked wood or any other materials under which they can hide. This will greatly reduce the numbers of scorpions which will be found in the area. Refer to the standard Service Program outlined under Service Programs.
